Jakarta,- The phenomenon of “war” over incentives, cash backs, and rewards that has been rampant among banks this year is said to continue into next year. President Director of Krom Bank, Anton Hermawan, stated that currently, third-party funds (DPK) have become the target of the banking industry, and everyone is striving to obtain them.
“So actually, the war of incentives, the war of cash back, the war of rewards has become something very prominent this year.” And I think it won’t stop next year either, it will continue,” said Anton at Penang Bistro, Tuesday (3/12/2024).
He believes that the most “intense” DPK war is happening this December. Kredivo’s digital bank also felt the liquidity challenge.
“So, the DPK in 2025 will be very interesting.” “Because we can all look there, it just depends on how we can maintain public interest, and then how we can keep their trust so they invest with us,” concluded Anton.

However, at the moment, there is also a phenomenon of eating into savings. (mantab). Anton believes that the tendency to save among the Indonesian people has already begun to emerge. Especially with the offering of high interest rates.
According to Anton, the customers who were initially tempted by the high-interest offers were older, but now they have also attracted the younger generation. In fact, he revealed that the number of young customers at Krom Bank is greater than the number of established customers.
“Of course, not all members of society are fortunate enough to save and so on.” But those who can do it and are willing to do it, I feel, are starting to increase. So the younger generation entering Krom is actually the largest group. Surprisingly, and they have already started saving,” said Anton.
Thus, the digital bank targets specific segments to gather public funds. For the year 2025, Krom Bank will still use the “burning money” strategy to offer high savings interest rates.
“Of course, nothing lasts forever. But I think in 2025, because the trend remains the same, the situation we face is still the same, we will continue to do that,” added Anton.
As for Krom Bank, it is currently more focused on the retail segment, which usually places its funds in short-term deposits. Therefore, Anton said that the balance of liquidity with long-term and short-term tenors must be maintained.
In the future, Krom will target high-end customers who place funds with longer tenors. “We need to adjust to more appropriate segments.” In addition, for the lower segment, it is somewhat less matching with our liquidity. Because they are very, very short. Very, very short, that’s a bit concerning,” explained Anton.
