Jakarta, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming or Head of BKPM Rosan P Roeslani explained that downstreaming has become one of the major contributors to investment up to the third quarter of 2024. Without holding back, the investment from downstream activities contributed approximately 21.6% or reached Rp 272.91 trillion.
“Downstream activities contributed approximately 21.6% of the total investment realization of Rp 272.91 trillion. So indeed, the contribution of downstream activities is quite significant to our investment realization,” said Rosan in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with Commission XII of the DPR, Tuesday (3/11/2024).
Rosan detailed that the investment contribution from downstream activities is generated from several mineral downstream processes, with the highest being the smelter, which amounts to approximately Rp170.78 trillion. This is followed by Nickel at Rp113.77 trillion, Bauxite at Rp45.72 trillion, Copper at Rp70.79 trillion, and Tin at Rp500 billion.
“Then the downstream sector with the largest investment realization is agriculture, reaching approximately Rp44.09 trillion, especially in the CPO processing and oleochemical industry. This is the second largest contribution,” explained Rosan.
In addition, the largest downstream activities in forestry, particularly in the pulp and paper industry, amounted to Rp33.72 trillion, and in the oil and gas sector, particularly in the petrochemical industry, it reached Rp17.46 trillion, with the remaining being the electric vehicle battery ecosystem at Rp6.86 trillion.
“And of course, we hope that in the future, not only from the mineral sector but also part of our nomenclature with sectors such as plantations, agriculture, and fisheries will also undergo downstream processing or value addition in our new nomenclature,” Rosan emphasized.
On the other hand, Rosan stated that the realization of investment in the third quarter of 2024 reached Rp 1,261.43 trillion. This is already 76.45% of the target set for this year, which is Rp 1,650 trillion.
