Jakarta,- PT PLN (Persero) continues to strive to provide the best service in order to boost the growth of electric vehicle users in the country. One of them is by offering promotions for home charging installation for electric vehicle owners.
The Director of Retail and Commerce at PT PLN (Persero), Edi Srimulyanti, stated that PLN offers various promotions for the power upgrade and new home charging installation programs. As for the new home charging installation promotion for 7,700 VA, for example, it only costs IDR 850,000. “About IDR 850,000, just pay IDR 850,000,” he said during a Hearing Meeting with Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Tuesday (3/12/2024).
In addition, Edi reminded that the minimum electrical power required for electric vehicle users to charge at home is at least 7,700 Volt Amperes (VA) for cars.
“If it’s for increasing power, for home charging, the average power needed is around 7,000 VA. So if the power at home is already high, you might not need to increase it, but if it’s still below that and really necessary, then you can increase the power,” he said.
Previously, the President Director of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, stated that the use of cars is mostly for daily mobility, which does not exceed 100 kilometers. Meanwhile, the battery capacity of currently available electric cars can generally be used for more than 200 kilometers.
Thus, most of the electric vehicle charging is primarily done at customers’ homes rather than at public electric vehicle charging stations. (SPKLU). This makes home charging services very important to support the growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem.
“This electric car is like a cellphone.” Charging is done at night at each person’s home. SPKLU is only used for long-distance travel,” said Darmawan in a written statement some time ago.
He added that his party has collaborated with the Sole Agent of the Brand Holder (ATPM) or electric vehicle dealers, so that every purchase of an electric vehicle will directly receive free home charging installation services from PLN.
“So every time there is an electric vehicle buyer, PLN officers will directly visit the buyer’s house to install home charging, so they can be more comfortable using the electric vehicle,” said Darmawan.
According to Darmawan, to meet customer needs, PLN has introduced the Super Everyday promo, which is a new connection promo (PB) for home charging. This promo is available to all PLN customer tariff groups, with details for low voltage customers (TR) 1 Phase up to 7,700 VA and TR 3 Phase customers up to 13,200 VA.
Through this promotion, customers receive a special price where single-phase customers with a final power option of 7,700 VA only pay Rp 850,000 from the normal price of around Rp 7.49 million. Meanwhile, for three-phase customers with a final power option of 13,200 VA, they only pay Rp 3.5 million from the normal price of around Rp 14.6 million.
