Titiek Soeharto Warns About Nataru Basic Food, Minister Amran Reports Like This

Jakarta, – Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman assured Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) regarding the availability of food ahead of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru) being in a safe condition. This was conveyed by Amran during a working meeting with Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives, led by the Chairperson of Commission IV, Titiek Soeharto, today, Wednesday (4/12/2024).
When opening the meeting, Titiek requested the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) to ensure that food production and availability remain stable, especially in the lead-up to the Nataru moment, which is often accompanied by an increase in demand.

“Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) requests the government through the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure food production, especially ahead of Christmas and New Year, in order to keep food prices stable and affordable for the public,” said Titiek.

In response to that, Minister of Agriculture Amran expressed his optimism regarding the national food stock, especially rice, being in a safe condition. He mentioned that the rice stock in Bulog is currently the highest in the last five years.

“God willing, the year-end holidays as mentioned by the Chairwoman, will be safe.” Our stock is the largest in the last five years. Currently, Bulog reports having a stock of 2 million tons of rice, according to the report in the Ratas,” explained Amran.

With the abundant stock, the Ministry of Agriculture hopes that food prices, especially rice, will remain stable during the Nataru holiday. This step is part of the government’s efforts to maintain the purchasing power of the public amid the high demand leading up to the end of the year.
