Jakarta – Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman, also known as Gus Miftah, has once again become the target of public criticism. Not without reason. The controversial preacher mocked the iced tea seller in front of many people. Worse, Miftah called the small vendor “stupid.”
Amid the controversy, Miftah, who is part of Prabowo Subianto’s cabinet, has not yet reported his wealth in the State Organizer’s Wealth Report. (LHKPN). This was confirmed by the Corruption Eradication Commission. (KPK).
“The person in question has not reported the LHKPN,” said KPK spokesperson team member, Budi Prasetyo, to reporters on Wednesday (4/12/2024).
The man commonly known as Gus Miftah currently serves as the Special Envoy of the President for Religious Harmony and Religious Facility Development. Since being appointed on October 22, 2024, Miftah has yet to report his obligations as a state official.
Besides Miftah, Budi revealed that there are nine others who are Special Envoys/Special Advisors/Special Staff who have also not reported their LHKPN. Meanwhile, six others have already reported.
Previously, Gus Miftah made the public furious because of his action mocking an iced tea vendor while preaching at Drh. Soepardi Field, Mungkid, Magelang Regency, Central Java, a few days ago.
While giving a sermon, Miftah was distracted by the presence of an iced tea vendor standing among the congregation.
The congregation then shouted and asked Gus Miftah to buy out the tea seller’s goods. Instead of buying out the small vendor’s goods, Miftah uttered inappropriate words and phrases. Especially when said by a preacher and a state official.
“Is your iced tea still a lot?” Still? “Just sell it there, stupid. Sell it first, if it doesn’t sell later, then it’s fate,” said Miftah while laughing, as seen in the circulating video.
Not only that, the people sitting on stage with Miftah also joined in the laughter. In fact, some were laughing heartily, as if the insulting remarks were a funny joke.
The man selling iced tea could only stand in silence, frozen in the midst of the crowd of worshippers. It was evident that the iced tea vendor was holding back tears, as if he couldn’t believe he had been mocked by a preacher in front of so many worshippers.
