Jakarta – Head of the Nusantara Capital City Authority (IKN) Basuki Hadimuljono denied that the development of IKN would slow down. He disagreed with the Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo.
“There is no (slowdown at the IKN Authority)” said Basuki when met by reporters at Menara Mandiri II, Jakarta, Monday, December 9, 2024. “I don’t know, well, if he is at the PU.”
The former Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) said that the IKN Authority is preparing infrastructure development for legislative and judicial institutions. This work was ordered by President Prabowo Subianto ahead of the appointment of Basuki as the Head of the IKN Authority.
Basuki also mentioned that he is requesting an additional budget of Rp 8.1 trillion for the development of IKN in 2025. Previously, the Budget Implementation List (DIPA) for OIKN in 2025 was set at Rp 6.3 trillion.
“Because of the President’s order to start the construction of the judicial, legislative offices, and housing, we are currently submitting an additional budget request to Bappenas (National Development Planning Agency) and the Minister of Finance,” said Basuki.
Regarding the potential slowdown, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo stated that the development of the IKN is not 100 percent on track or according to the previously planned schedule. This is because the government currently has other priorities, one of which is achieving food self-sufficiency. The Ministry of Public Works will also focus on providing water for rice fields.

“(The construction of the IKN) is very slow, right?” “Just a slight delay. It’s just a matter of different priorities,” said Dody to reporters at the Ministry of Public Works, Friday, December 6, 2024.
In addition, the slowdown in the development of IKN is due to budgetary issues. The government, according to Dody, is currently looking for investors to invest capital.
“The funds are limited. We are currently looking for money,” said Dody. “If anyone wants to invest, we would be happy to welcome them.”
Previously, in a meeting forum with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Senayan Parliament Building on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, Dody also proposed an additional budget of IDR 14.87 trillion to support the development of the IKN.
In his presentation, Dody detailed that the budget would be used by the Directorate General of Highways amounting to Rp 9.900 billion for the construction of roads within the Central Government Core Area (KIPP), the construction of toll roads, and the duplication of the short-span Pulau Balang bridge.
Meanwhile, Rp 4,969.63 billion will be used by the Directorate General of Cipta Karya to complete the construction of the drinking water supply system (SPAM), sanitation, government office buildings, as well as the offices of the Ministry of Defense, the National Police, and the National Intelligence Agency.
