Banyuwangi – The coach of Persewangi Banyuwangi, Syamsuddin Batolla, passed away in an accident on the Pasuruan-Probolinggo Toll Road on Thursday (12/12) morning. The passing of the coach from Maros, Makassar, left a deep sorrow for the members of the team of the club nicknamed Laskar Blambangan.
“We deeply mourn the loss of a highly dedicated coach who was also an important part of the Persewangi family,” said Persewangi President, Handoko, in his official statement on Thursday (12/12/2024).
He also admitted that he greatly missed the figure who had high dedication in coaching Persewangi. Since his arrival a few months ago, Syamsuddin had made a significant contribution to the development of Persewangi.
He is also known as a coach with a strong work ethic. In fact, before the incident, he had just fulfilled his duties as the head coach of Persewangi by attending the League 4 manager meeting in Surabaya.
Handoko emphasized that his side ensures all the needs related to the handling of Syamsudin’s remains are covered by the club. In fact, the return of Coach Syamsuddin’s remains to Makassar is also being handled by the club’s management.
“Currently, we, along with Coach Syamsudin’s extended family, are still taking care of all his needs.” We ask the public for prayers for the deceased. “May everyone be granted strength,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Banyuwangi Regent Ipuk Fiestiandani expressed deep condolences over the passing of the head coach of Persewangi Banyuwangi, Syamsuddin Batolla, in an accident on the Pasuruan-Probolinggo toll road.

In fact, before the incident, Syamsuddin Batolla was carrying out his duties as the head coach of Persewangi to attend the League 4 manager meeting in Surabaya.

Ipuk said that Syamsudin Batolla is a dedicated figure in the world of football. He is also a coach who is very concerned about the development of young players.
That is what led the Persewangi management to entrust the team captaincy to this AFC A-licensed coach, with the majority of the players being young natives of Banyuwangi.
Ipuk himself has met with Syamsudin during a meeting with the entire management, coaching staff, and players of Persewangi Banyuwangi at Pendapa Sabha Swagata, Sunday (1/12/2024) evening.
In the meeting, Ipuk expressed her appreciation for the hard work of the new coaching staff and management of Persewangi in forming a professional football team.
He hopes that the synergy between the local government and Persewangi can become even stronger to advance Banyuwangi’s football achievements.
Ipuk also conveyed to the Persewangi management that the regional government is ready to collaborate. The management can communicate with all Regional Device Organizations (OPD) to facilitate the activities of the team nicknamed Laskar Blambangan.
Ipuk hopes that with this support, Persewangi will grow into a strong team. She hopes Persewangi can become a magnet for Banyuwangi in the future.
