Jakarta Chairman of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, spoke about the possibility of the seventh President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi, and the Vice President of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, joining his party after being officially dismissed from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) as members.
He said that the Golkar Party is open to anyone who wants to join.
“Golkar is very inclusive.” Golkar is open to all the nation’s children who want to dedicate themselves through politics via the party. “So Golkar is very inclusive, right?” said Bahlil at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Monday (16/2/2024).
According to him, Jokowi is a statesman and has many supporters. Bahlil mentioned that every political party would definitely want to recruit potential figures, including Jokowi.
“Well, every party surely has the desire to invite potential figures.” Mr. Jokowi is a former president. Surely he has, you know, a lot of sympathy from many people, a lot of support from many people. “Let’s just see,” he explained.
Bahlil himself leaves it up to Jokowi and Gibran if they want to become cadres of his party. He himself welcomes Jokowi and Gibran joining the Golkar Party.
“Yes, we leave everything to the gentlemen and citizens present, including President Jokowi,” he said.
“Oh Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah.” Yes, let’s pray that everything goes well,” Bahlil added.
When asked if he had invited Jokowi to join, Bahlil did not want to comment. Bahlil stated that he often meets with Jokowi, but they do not necessarily discuss the expulsion from PDIP.
“Even if we meet, it wouldn’t be just because of the dismissal issue by another party.” “I just met him normally,” said Bahlil.
