Gibran Asks for No Disruptions to the 2024 Christmas Celebration: If There Are Difficulties, Report to Me

Jakarta Vice President of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, requested that the 2024 Christmas celebration not be made difficult.

He conveyed this at the Inauguration of the Central Board (PP) of Pemuda Katolik for the 2024-2027 period at the Indonesian Bishops’ Conference (KWI) Building, Jalan Taman Cut Mutia, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (17/12/2024).

The man who was recently officially dismissed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) revealed that this was in accordance with the message from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

“The President discussed the preparations for Christmas and New Year celebrations, and one of the key points was that the President wants all layers of society to be able to celebrate Christmas and New Year safely, joyfully, with kindness, and comfort,” said Gibran.

Therefore, he called on the General Chairperson of the PP Pemuda Katolik, Stefanus Gusma, to report if the Christmas celebration encounters any obstacles.

Reports, Gibran continued, can also be submitted directly to him through the complaint channel ‘Lapor Mas Wapres’.

“So I also conveyed this message to Mas Gusma, if anyone faces difficulties during the Christmas Mass and celebrations, report it immediately to the police, military, local government, or directly to me.” “There is a phone number there (Report to the Vice President), you can contact via WhatsApp or call,” he explained.

Gibran is committed

Gibran also mentioned that his commitment to the Catholic community in carrying out their worship remains the same as when he served as the Mayor of Solo.

At that time, he said, the difficult challenge of simply putting up Christmas ornaments in Solo could be overcome.

“More than 3 years in Solo, the challenges have also been extraordinary.” “We organize Christmas celebrations, put up Christmas ornaments, and set up Christmas trees; those are heavy challenges,” said Gibran.

“But what makes me brave is that behind me there are many open-minded young people, with open minds, willing to embrace everyone, and respect differences,” he emphasized.
