The results of the 2024 Tarakan City Pilkada have been challenged in the Constitutional Court (MK). The petitioner is an accredited election observer at the Tarakan City KPU, namely the Indonesian Human Rights Analysis Institute of North Kalimantan province, with Ambo Tuo as the chairman. Meanwhile, the respondent is the General Election Commission (KPU) of Tarakan City.
According to Ambo Tuo, the application submitted by his party is still registered with the Constitutional Court.
“And will wait to enter the trial period in January 2025,” said Ambo Tuo to reporters on Tuesday (24/12).
According to him, serious violations are suspected to have occurred during the administration of the Tarakan City regional election.
“Starting from the transfer of ASN, money politics, abuse of state facilities, to the lack of fair socialization regarding the empty box option,” he said.
Ambo Tuo admitted that he had carried out his duties as an election monitor in the province of North Kalimantan, focusing on the city of Tarakan, involving 343 volunteers.
The volunteers are ready to be witnesses to the alleged violations committed by the mayoral and deputy mayoral candidates of Tarakan.
“Honest and fair democracy in the city of Tarakan will be evident during the trial at the Constitutional Court, and we have prepared witnesses, including 343 observers, ready to testify that violations were committed by candidate pair 01 in the Tarakan City Regional Election,” said Ambo Tuo.
Furthermore, he requested that no party intimidate or make promises to any of the witnesses.
“Because that will certainly further damage the democracy in the city of Tarakan, which has been evident from the very beginning through the facts of how all these things happened,” he said.
As for this lawsuit, he said it was filed to request the Constitutional Court to disqualify the candidate pair number 1 Khairul-Ibnu Saud (Kharisma), because the pair is considered to have committed violations in the Tarakan City Pilkada that were structured, systematic, and massive (TSM). (H-3)
