The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to investigate the alleged bribery case in the process of interim replacement (PAW) of DPR members. Two witnesses with the initials ML and AW were summoned by the investigators.
“The examination was conducted at the KPK Red and White Building on behalf of ML and AW,” said KPK Spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto in a written statement, Thursday (16/1).
Tessa was reluctant to provide the full names of the two witnesses. Based on the information gathered, both are members of the DPR, Maria Lestari and Arif Wibowo.
The KPK has not yet been able to detail the information they want to extract from the statements of the two witnesses. This is the second summons for Maria.
Maria is a former candidate from PDIP in Dapil I Kalbar. Her PAW was also handled by Wahyu, through Hasto on August 31, 2019.

“HK met with Wahyu Setiawan to request the fulfillment of two proposals submitted by the DPP, namely Maria Lestari from Dapil I Kalbar and Harun Masiku from Dapil I Sumsel,” explained KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto some time ago.
The management of PAW similar to Harun was once exposed to the public by the KPK during the investigation of former PDIP candidate Alexsius Akim. Alexsius contested in Dapil I Kalbar, the place where Maria was asked to win by Hasto.
“Witness AA, investigators are delving into a modus operandi similar to Harun Masiku that occurred in the electoral district of West Kalimantan at the same time,” said KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto in a written statement on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
Alexsius briefly talked about his candidacy in 2019. He admitted that he had won and was about to be inaugurated, but was instead expelled by PDIP.
