Arrested by the Sharia Police, Aceh Influencer Ready to be Punished and Deactivate Social Media Accounts

A celebrity Instagrammer named Mira Ulfa went viral for her action of reciting the Quran with DJ music accompaniment during a live broadcast on TikTok. In the circulating video, Mira can be heard playing DJ music interspersed with the recitation of taawuz and basmalah.

The Sharia Police (Wilayatul Hisbah/WG) then intervened to investigate Mira Ulfa. After being questioned, Mira apologized.

Mira also made a statement letter signed on a stamp after undergoing an examination at the Satpol PP and WH Aceh office. The letter contains seven points.

“I am willing to temporarily deactivate my TikTok and Instagram accounts,” said Mira while reading the seventh point of the statement, as reported by detikSumut, Tuesday (21/1).

Mira is willing to face legal consequences if she violates the law and promises not to repeat the act. He also admitted that he would not pursue any customary or legal claims in the future.

According to him, the controversial live broadcast took place on Sunday, January 12. He admitted that he did it unintentionally.

“I apologize to the people of Aceh, the scholars, the Aceh government, the district/city governments, and the law enforcement officers for my actions during the live session on TikTok,” said Mira.

The Head of the Aceh Satpol PP and WH, Jalaluddin, stated that during the investigation, it was revealed that the incident occurred spontaneously. Mira is said to not have planned to recite taawuz and basmalah accompanied by DJ music while wearing tight clothing during the live broadcast.

“We have investigated, and indeed there was spontaneity, followed by a mistake and a lack of religious knowledge,” explained the Acting Regent of Bireuen.

Mira will undergo rehabilitation conducted by the Aceh Timur Sharia police. Similar incidents are expected not to be repeated in the future.
