The brother of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, revealed that free nutritious meals (MBG) for Indonesian children have been initiated by Prabowo since 2006.
Hashim emphasized that President Prabowo is very eager for this program to come to fruition.
“The Free Nutritious Meal Program, MBG, is Mr. Prabowo’s Promise.” That was Mr. Prabowo’s idea 18 years ago. That idea was born in 2006,” said Hashim as quoted from the press release, Sunday (2/2/2025).
This free nutritious meal program has become one of the main priorities of the administration of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. This program, which was a campaign promise in the 2024 presidential election, officially started on January 6, 2025.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto targeted that by September 2025, 15 million Indonesian children will benefit from this free nutritious meal program.
He emphasized that this program must reach all Indonesian children by the end of 2025.
“From January to April 2025, the target of this program is 3 million children.” From April to August 2025, it will reach 6 million children. In September, we hope for 15 million children. And by the end of 2025, our target is that all Indonesian children can have nutritious meals,” said Prabowo while leading a plenary cabinet meeting at the Presidential Office in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Until now, the program that started on January 6, 2025, has served 650,000 children in 31 provinces. Prabowo stated that this success is the result of hard work from all the ministers and local governments.
Hashim emphasized that President Prabowo is very eager for this program to come to fruition.
