Gibran Inspects Free Nutritious Meals in Surabaya, Menu Includes Boiled Sweet Potatoes and Meatballs

Jakarta – Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka continues to ensure the smooth implementation of the priority program of President Prabowo Subianto’s government, Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), in various regions. On Monday, (February 10, 2025), Gibran directly reviewed the implementation of the program at SMA Negeri 10 Surabaya, Jl. Jemursari I No.28, Jemur Wonosari, Wonocolo District, Surabaya, East Java.

“Vice President Gibran’s review was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk and Acting Regional Secretary of East Java Province Bobby Soemiarsono,” wrote the Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Vice Presidential Secretariat (BPMI Setwapres) in its release on Monday (10/2/2025).
Gibran arrived around 11:00 AM WIB and was enthusiastically welcomed by the students. The atmosphere became even more festive when the Vice President joined in distributing nutritious food packages to them.
“This meal menu consists of boiled sweet potatoes, meatballs, stir-fried white cabbage, as well as watermelon and rambutan,” explained BPMI Setwapres.
For your information, the MBG Program is currently officially implemented throughout Indonesia, not only aiming to ensure adequate nutrition for students but also bringing other positive impacts, such as helping them to save.
One of them was expressed by Faruq, an 11th-grade student, who stated that this program is very helpful, especially for students with limited pocket money.
“That was back in 10th grade, if I look at my friends, that 10 thousand rupiah pocket money was only enough for breakfast, no lunch.” “Well, with the availability of free lunch, Alhamdulillah, we can have lunch and save more,” said Faruq.

Can Save

With the presence of MBG, Faruq and his friends now not only receive nutritious food, but they can also allocate their pocket money for other needs.
“(Pocket money) for other school needs, maybe stationery, books, and so on,” he added.
A similar sentiment was expressed by the Principal of SMA Negeri 10 Surabaya, Teguh Santoso. According to him, the MBG program is highly anticipated and well-received by the students because it helps reduce their daily expenses.
“Their enthusiasm is extraordinary every time this program is held, they have been looking forward to it.” At least it can reduce the cost of lunch,” he said.
He hopes that this program can continue, considering its great benefits, especially for students in need.
“The hope is that this program can continue to run well because it provides many benefits, especially for us.” We have 92 orphans, and they are greatly helped by this program,” explained Teguh.
“The point is, the program is already good.” “If there are any shortcomings, we will fix them,” he concluded.
