Brutal Mugging in Sukabumi, Company Employee Stabbed and 504 Million IDR Stolen


SUAKBUMI – The Criminal Investigation Unit of Sukabumi City Police and the Warudoyong Police Criminal Investigation Unit are pursuing a gang of robbers who stole hundreds of millions of rupiah around the Taman Bahagia Public Cemetery, Jalan Taman Bahagia, Sukabumi City, West Java.

As a result of the mugging that occurred on Tuesday night, the victim with the initials E, a resident of Jalan Kabandungan, Selabatu Village, Cikole District, Sukabumi City, suffered stab wounds from a sharp weapon on the thigh and arm. In addition, the company’s money where the victim worked, amounting to 504 million rupiah, was taken by the perpetrators of the robbery, said the Head of Public Relations of Sukabumi City Police, Astuti Setyaningsih, quoted by ANTARA on Friday, March 7.

According to Astuti, the victim has reported the incident to the Warudoyong Police Station, and the case of alleged violent theft is currently under investigation. Sukabumi City Police have formed a team to hunt down the gang of robbers.

The police stated that the robbery occurred to an employee of PT Sinar Mitra Milik, a company supplying various types of cigarettes, while the victim was on his way home after collecting deposit money from a grocery kiosk in the Caringin Ngumbang Village, Sukakarya District, Warudoyong Subdistrict.

During the journey, the victim who was riding a Yamaha Nmax motorcycle was allegedly followed by the suspected perpetrator who was riding a white Honda Beat motorcycle without a license plate.
Upon arriving at Jalan Taman Bahagia, specifically in the cemetery area, the victim was cornered and kicked until he fell to the left side of the sidewalk.
The victim who tried to resist was immediately slashed by one of the robbers using a sharp weapon.

After carrying out their action, the gang made off with a backpack containing approximately 504 million rupiah and one unit of the victim’s cellphone. The characteristics of the perpetrators have been identified.
The police urge residents to always be vigilant against street crimes and, if carrying large amounts of money, to request police assistance for an escort.
