Jakarta – DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung plans to improve bike lanes. The policy was welcomed by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo.
He stated that he fully supports the governor’s steps. Therefore, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) plans to add 3.8 kilometers of bike lanes in 2025. He explained that the addition of bike lanes is included in the quick wins program, aka the 100-day breakthrough of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.
“In 2025, the Transportation Agency will build 3.8 KM to complete the complete street pedestrianization,” he said when contacted, Sunday (4/27/2025).
Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has built 314.196 kilometers of bike lanes throughout the capital city by 2024. Bike lanes are divided into two types, protected and mixed with other vehicles. The typology of bicycle lanes is assessed based on the ROW of the Road, vehicle volume, and urban space perspective.
“Currently, protected bicycle lanes are implemented with the use of planter boxes (for example on Jalan Sudirman), the use of aminitis/parks (for example on Jalan Pattimura), and the use of solar cell road marking nails to increase awareness for cyclists,” he said.

Admittedly, the arrangement of bicycle lanes has not been completed. Therefore, in 2026, the Jakarta Transportation Agency will hold a comprehensive study to conduct a thorough evaluation.
“The Transportation Agency is working with all stakeholders, both government agencies and NGOs, in preparing technical planning, as well as evaluations in the construction of bicycle lanes, including conducting socialization of the use of bicycles as a means of transportation so that there is an increase in the number of bicycle users,” he said.
